The final day of competition in the FIBA Marchand Continental Cup will not be played
by: FIBA

SAN JUAN - In a joint decision of the Municipality of San Juan and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the final day of competition (Thursday, August 27) on the FIBA Marchand Continental Cup has been canceled given the weather conditions and the imminent passage of tropical storm Erica through Puerto Rico.

"It is unfortunate news that we have to communicate, but both FIBA and the Municipality of San Juan in their role as host, have the responsibility to ensure the safety of the participating national teams and all spectators who had planned to attend the games tonight at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente. It's been four days of great basketball and we thank those who attended this 2015 FIBA Marchand Cup. It is our hope this storm does not cause serious damage and that everything is restored to normal in the island.”, said Alberto Garcia, Executive Director of FIBA Americas.

Canada won the Continental Cup Jenaro "Tuto" Marchand for the first time in their history after beating host Puerto Rico by a score of 78-72 last night.

The national teams of the FIBA Marchand Continental Cup will now move on to Mexico City, Mexico where they will participate in the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship from August 31 to September 12 at the Palacio de los Deportes.
