
SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO (South American League) - A three pointer by Juan Carlos Bergel gave Juventud Sionista de Paraná their first win in the South American League finals over Minas Tenis by the score of 72-70.
Leandro Masieri led Sionista with 15 points and Daniel Hure followed with 13. Minas had Murilo Becker with 17 and Facundo Sucatzky 13.
The first quarter was for Minas 17-15 and the first half ended 39-37 in favor of Sionista. Both teams had a great first half offensively, balancing their scoring in the paint and from long distance.
Masieri had 12 points in the first half while William Drudi netted 10 for Minas who ended without wins.
In the third quarter the offense by Murilo Becker along with three pointers by Leandro da Cruz and Chris Jeffries gave Minas a 59-55 lead with ten minutes left.
Minas had a nine point lead (64-55) after two free throws by Chris Jeffries with 7:22, but the Argentinean club reacted and ended the game with a 17-6 rally.
Despite losing the rebounds battle 35-28, Sionista made nine three pointers and 17 free throws to make the difference.
