
CANELONES - México defeated Uruguay in their country for the first time in 58 years by the score of 73-61. Uruguay had an undefeated record at home against Mexico in seven games, six of them as the national team and one of them in club competition.
Uruguay dominated the first quarter 16-12 but lost at halftime 38-25 and never recovered.
The Uruguayan team had Diego González, Juan Pablo Silveira, Sebastián Vázquez, Sebastián Izaguirre and Gastón Páez as their starters and only played with seven players.
Their next set of games is at the Super 4 in Argentina starting on July 12. On day 1 Argentina faces Mexico and Poland takes on Uruguay.
