  COL – Colombia’s National Basketball Team leaves for Puerto Montt.

(Colombia)- The National Basketball Team will leave for Puerto Montt, Chile, this weekend in preparation for the 2008 South American Championship that will take place in that city. 

The team will be lead by Edgard Moreno, who has played internationally for Cocodrilos de Caracas in Venezuela, Indios de Mayagüez in Puerto Rico, Sabios and Búcaros in Colombia; has been twice champion with Bucaros and twice MVP also while playing for them.  He went to Lon Morris JC, Arlington, Texas (USA) and at UTEP, where he played the National Junior College Championships, the Sweet Sixteen with Texas and the NIT with UTEP.

Also with the team are, Enisel Guevara - who played 4 seasons with Gaiteros del Zulia in Venezuela, in Arrieros and Paisas of Medellín.  He has also been champion with Bucaros twice - and Norbey Aragón who went to Lon Morris (USA), Tarleton State University (USA) and Georgia Southwestern; additionally, he played briefly with Guaiqueries in Venezuela.

Cañedo, Mosquera and Londoño play collega basketball in the USA for Georgia College, Texas Panamerican and Newman respectively; Cañedo is playing for the second time a South American Championship with his National Team.
 
Bacci and Perez are the rookies of the team, formerly members of the Junior Teams; Bacci is considered as Colombia's best future prospect.

Notable absences from the team come from: Stalin Ortiz who was unable to reach an agreement with the Colombian Federation, Juan Tello Palacion who will be going to a summer tournament with the Cavaliers of Cleveland and Hardy Asprilla who is injured at the moment.  Moreover, Stuard Baldonado and Emiro Romero where not called to played for the Team.
