MEX2013 - There will be a new champ! Cuba upsets Brasil and earns ticket to Turkey 2014

Cuba defeated Brazil, 72-68, to qualify to play for the Gold Medal and earn a spot in the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey. Cuba will face tomorrow the Canadian National Team in the game for the Gold Medal of the FIBA Americas Championship for Women.

The Canadian National Team comfortably defeated Puerto Rico, 73-48, to qualify to play for the gold medal and the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey. The best scorer for the Canadians was Kim Gaucher with 14 points, while for Puerto Rico the top scorer with 22 points was Carla Cortijo.

SPAIN2014 - Qualification for 2014 FIBA World Cup ends, attribution of four wild cards to come

The qualification process for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup came to a close on Sunday 22 September with the conclusion of EuroBasket 2013 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. As a result of this, 20 of the 24 national teams that will compete in FIBA’s flagship event next summer (30 August - 14 September 2014) are now known, with the remaining four to be determined through the attribution of wild cards by FIBA.

MEX2013 - Brazil finished undefeated the First Round

Brazil defeated Mexico, 97-45, to end the first round with 4 wins and 0 losses. In the Semi-Finals on Friday, September 29, Brazil will take on the National Team of Cuba.

MEX2013 - Puerto Rico defeated the Dominicans and will face Canada in the Semi-Finals

Puerto Rico defeated the Dominican Republic National Team, 84-59 , to secure their place in the Semi-Finals of the FIBA Americas Championship for Women. The best scorer for the Puerto Ricans was Carla Cortijo with 18 points, while for the Dominican Republic the top scorer with 21 points was Andreina Paniagua.
