Pinheiros vs. Olympiacos in the 2013 International Cup

The Intercontinental Cup is officially launched. In a press conference held on Thursday in Esporte Clube Pinheiros, São Paulo (SP), the game between the Pinheiros / SKY, champion of the League of the Americas, and Olympiacos, Greece, owner of the Euroleague Champion, was set.

Now, in 2013, the tournament between clubs is back and a new champion will come out of the duel between the international clubs.

"I want to congratulate the Pinheiros for being the champion of the League of the Americas and also for hosting the Intercontinental Cup. The League of America is now in its sixth edition and also helps to enhance the national leagues. To arrange the League of the Americas is not an easy task, but little by little we are moving. The Euroleague will also want to thank you for accepting this invitation," said the secretary general of FIBA Americas, Alberto García.

Along the presence of the representative of FIBA Americas, the event counted with the participation of the President of Esporte Clube Pinheiros, Luís Eduardo Dutra, the director of institutional National Basketball League (LNB), Kouros Monadjemi, the Vice-President and Director of the LNB Olympic sports of Pinheiros, João Fernando Rossi, the technical director of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB), Vanderlei Mazzuchini, and the Sports Secretary of Barueri, Paulo Sérgio Nascimento.

"The resumption of the Intercontinental Cup is a great opportunity for growth and exchange of the sport. Pinheiros is very proud, because this is a very significant event. Pinheiros is the club recognized for the training of athletes, both in individual and in collective sport. Today, we have more than 150 athletes in the youth basketball and participating for this world title is the result of a serious project and committed. We will measure forces with one of the top clubs in the world and I am sure the team that will represent us will not only represent the Pinheiros, but all Brazilian basketball, "said the president of Pinheiros.

The International Cup will be contested in two matches, the champion will be the team with a victory with the biggest difference on the scoreboard - the Intercontinental Club Cup 2013 will be held at the city of Barueri, located 26 km from the capital of São Paulo.

The place to host the clash between the Pinheiros and Olympiacos will be Multisport Fitness José Corrêa. The first game will take place on October 04 (Friday) at 20.30 (GMT), while the decisive duel will be held on October 06 (Sunday) at 14 hours (GMT).

"For us, Barueri, it is with great pleasure that we receive this competition and I'm sure will give the entire necessary infrastructure for both teams,” said the former football player, Paulo Sérgio, Secretary of Sports of Barureri.
