LSBF2012 – Games with big leads

Quito, Ecuador - In the first round of South American Championship Women's Clubs, teams Lanus of Argentina, ADCF Unimed of Brazil and UTE of Ecuador, scored double-digit victories ahead.

In the opening game, the club Lanus of Argentina beat Ourinhos of Brazil 70-56 in the most competitive match of the night. The first half of the game showed signs of a clash between the clubs but Lanus took off with a strong second half, dominating 40-28. Andrea Boquete was the best scorer with 16 points, followed by team player of the Selección Nacional Celeste, Agostina Burani who scored 14 points with 6 rebounds. For Ourinhos, the best player was Joice De Souza with 14.

In the second game, ADCF Unimed of Brazil defeated Uruguay's Club Malvin, 93-59. Brazil won the game with a strong first quarter scored 35-19 against the Uruguayan, and a final one 23-9.   The Brazilian had a balanced offensive attack with four players scoring double digits, and two with 9 points. The best scorer of the game was Tassia Pereira with 19 points, followed by a great performance of Evangelista Jucimara, who match hers 7 points with 14 rebounds. For Malvin, Candace Metoyer looked huge with 26 points and 6 rebounds in the defeat.

UTE of Ecuador, showed their high level in the final game of the day by defeating Regatas Lima of Peru with a score of 108-50. An impressive offensive attack from the Ecuador team was too much for Regatas of Lima, who didn’t found defense to stop the balanced and effective plan of the attack of the host. UTE had 5 players who scored double digits. The best scorer of the night was Dayanna Salcedo scored 18 points with 4 rebounds, followed by Angelica Robinson scored 15 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.

Today, Lanus faces Regatas Lima early, while in the second hour there is a clash between Brazilian clubs Ourinhos and ADCF Unimed, and Club Malvin faces the host of UTE to close the day.
