Centrobasket14 - The Centrobasket, a testing ground for Dominicans

In a month, the Dominican Republic will take part in the most important hoops tournament in their history, the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain. Before then, however, all eyes in Santo Domingo and the rest of the Caribbean nation will be on the city of Tepic in Nayarit, Mexico, the home of this year's Centrobasket (1-7 August). The Dominicans, Centrobasket champions in 2012, will be looking to claim one of the four qualifying spots for the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship.

The Chicago Bulls star, having had his past couple of NBA seasons derailed by knee injuries, made a very good impression on the opening day of the USA training camp in Las Vegas on Monday.


SUD2014 – Venezuela is the Champion of the 2014 South American Championship!

With a great performance from Greivis Vasquez, Venezuela defeated the National Team of Argentina, 74 - 65. This title represents the second South American Championship for Venezuela, having won the first in 1991, also at home.

In a rematch of the 2012 South American Championship, Argentina and Venezuela will play for the glory of winning the gold medal of the most historic basketball competition.


CENTROBASKET14 – In a great game, Cuba defeated Puerto Rico and was crowned champion

The team coached by Alberto Zabala defeated the team led by Gerardo Batista, 58-47, in the last game of Centrobasket Championship. It was a close and very contended game where the Puerto Ricans fought to the end. Yamara Amargo was selected as the Centrobasket 2014 Most Valuable Player.


Centrobasket14 - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC TOOK THE BRONZE MEDAL

The team coached by Ariel Portuondo stayed with the last ticket to the Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015, after defeating the team of the Virgin Islands by 61-55. The meeting was vibrant and well fought from the start, showing great parity between the national representatives.
